ChatGPT users should be cautious when seeking emotional support from AI, as the AI industry lacks safeguards for sensitive conversations, OpenAI CEO
Sam Altman said on a recent episode of This Past Weekend w/ Theo Von. OpenAI unveiled Study Mode, a new ChatGPT feature designed to promote critical
thinking by prompting students to engage with material rather than simply receive answers. Despite unveiling GPT-5 as a "one-size-fits-all" AI, OpenAI
is still offering several legacy AI options, including GPT-4o, GPT-4.1, and o3. The AI company said the updates aim to provide tighter protections
around suicide-related conversations and give parents more oversight of their children’s use.
Additionally, using a model's outputs might violate copyright, and the model creator could be accused of vicarious liability and held responsible for
that copyright infringement. When assembling training data, the sourcing of copyrighted works may infringe on the copyright holder's exclusive right
to control reproduction, unless covered by exceptions in relevant copyright laws. Andrew Ng argued that "it's a mistake to fall for the doomsday hype
on AI—and that regulators who do will only benefit vested interests." Yann LeCun dismissed doomsday warnings of AI-powered misinformation and
existential threats to the human race. Over 20,000 signatories including Yoshua Bengio, Elon Musk, and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, signed a March
2023 open letter calling for an immediate pause of giant AI experiments like ChatGPT, citing "profound risks to society and humanity". In October
2025, OpenAI banned accounts suspected to be linked to the Chinese government for violating the company's national security policy.
OpenAI wants to incorporate Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol (MCP) into all of its products, including the ChatGPT desktop app. "We are
getting things under control, but you should expect new releases from OpenAI to be delayed, stuff to break, and for service to sometimes be slow as we
deal with capacity challenges," he wrote. In a series of posts on X, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said the company’s new image-generation tool’s
popularity may cause product releases to be delayed.
